The BME management trainee program aims to attract top academic talents so you can develop your skills and critical thinking abilities to become a future leader within our international organisation. Over the course of two years, you will gain hands-on leadership experience in various aspects of our business(es). This includes operational experience in branches or distribution centres and functional and strategical experience in departments of your interest. You will start at our Swiss operating company (BMS) during your first year. In your second year you will have two or three assignments at a different organisation within BME Group.

What does the program look like

Year 1

  • 6 months of operational experience in branches, sales and other functions.
  • 6 months in the trainee's functional department.

Year 2

  • Two or three additional assignments in different disciplines in another organisation abroad within the Group to broaden knowledge.
  • One of these assignments will be at BME Group's headquarter located at Schiphol, the Netherlands.
  • Post-traineeship placement in a management role within the organisation.

Your Qualifications

  • Recent graduate of Master's degree at the start date of the BME Management trainee program with a strong academic record.
  • Maximum of 2 years working experience.
  • Eligible to work in Switzerland before the start of the BME Management Trainee Program.
  • Fluent in German and business professional in English, French as a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, results-orientation, and leadership potential.
  • Willing to work and travel across Europe.

  • Online application - cv and video pitch. Keep your video pitch under 2 minutes - start with your name and the role you're applying for. Highlight your top skills and experience and show your enthusiasm for the trainee position. Let your personality and presentation skills shine!
  • Online assessment. The assessment will consist out of a test that measures personality, potential and resilience and a test that measures verbal, abstract and numerical skills.
  • In-house assessments covering talent pitch, speed dating interviews, role play. This in-house day will be in the Netherlands on Thursday 12 June. Your travel to the Netherlands will be reimbursed.

The BME management trainee program is a two-year programme, designed to attract and develop academic talents into future leaders. Trainees are placed in various departments cross operating companies and cross Europe. This will be the right program for you when you are interested in working in an international organisation consisting of different cultures. Due to the nature of our business, you will quickly develop a lot of hands-on operational experience and strategical experience.

During the two years, you will have four or five assignments. You will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of our businesses, including operational experience in branches or distribution centres and functional and strategical experience in assigned departments. Additionally, you will also participate in individual coaching sessions and group training to support your personal and professional development. After these two years, you will progress towards a management role.
