Systems & Control Intern (6-Months)

Our Performance Engineering team plays a key role in optimizing the performance of our industrial indoor drone system, working across disciplines to enhance scanning efficiency in warehouse environments. By analyzing various system components - such as path planning, charging cycles, and data acquisition - our team identifies opportunities for improvement, helps define development priorities, and drives efforts to increase the rate at which our drones scan inventory.

Mission:

Your Role:

  • Extend and improve our simulation test pipeline for continuous monitoring of the drone performance
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and refinement of modeling, simulation, and data analysis tools that help predict and monitor drone performance
  • Identify and implement new features in our simulation software, visualize and analyze the output data, and compare to existing mathematical models
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and challenge existing assumptions and processes
  • Gain a deep understanding of complex robotic systems while developing practical skills in data science and software engineering alongside a team of dedicated engineers.

Your Experience:

  • Degree (BSc) in robotics, mechanical engineering, computer science, or relevant field
  • Strong academic record and demonstrated ability to convert theory into practice
  • Practical knowledge of Python (additional plus: knowledge of C++ and experience with Git)
  • Deep understanding of system modeling and control is highly desired
  • Experience with graphically representing complex data (creating plots, diagrams, schematics, …)
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Who You Are:

We are looking for a team player who is also capable of working autonomously, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You have analytical thinking, a creative approach to problem-solving, and a desire to understand complex systems. Your working method is structured and results-oriented, and you are curious and eager to leave your comfort zone to learn something new.

  • A great engineering culture, including flat hierarchies, an open-door policy, and a focus on joint responsibility and mutual trust and support
  • Working with a skilled, high-achieving, experienced, and fun team—with lots of opportunities to develop your professional career and grow with the company
  • Flexibility of a hybrid work environment. You can arrange start and finish times around your life (picking up kids, walking the dog, training for your next marathon at lunch)
  • 25 days of annual leave, employee stock ownership plan (conditions apply), variety of pension plans, and relocation packages
  • A buddy will support you during your onboarding and first month at Verity.
  • Annual team-building events, quarterly and monthly get-togethers, knowledge-sharing talks, game nights, and more
  • Welcoming office space complete with friendly team members, free snacks (fresh fruits, coffee, and more!), and fun activities—we’re dog-friendly!

We strive to create an inclusive environment that empowers our employees. All qualified applications will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender, age, physical [dis]ability, gender identity or length of time spent unemployed.
