The British School of Geneva is seeking to recruit an outstanding Economics and Humanities teacher on a full-time basis for the AY 2024-2025. Founded in 2005, The British School of Geneva offers the full English National Curriculum from EYFS through to A Levels to students of all nationalities and educational backgrounds.

Today, the school welcomes around 301 students from over 70 nationalities in its bright, spacious, built-for-purpose premises. The British School of Geneva is a day school only and employs approximately 50 teachers and administrators. In order to support the highest standard and most effective operation of the school we now seek an outstanding Key Stage 3 - 5 (IGCSE and A Level) Economics and Humanities teacher.

The Humanities and Economics department comprises a team of 5 teachers working within a broader Humanities team within Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

The department offers students the opportunity to study practical Humanities at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and follows the Pearson Edexcel International specifications. Students in KS5 (Year 12 and 13) sit examinations in Years 12 and 13 (9GEO). The successful candidate will be expected to prepare students fully for all external examinations.

The Economics department is a growing department within the Humanities area. Students in the upper school are encouraged to support our primary school students by running clubs and taster lessons. The department fosters strong links across the Geneva area.

The key professional and personal qualities required for this position are:

Essential:

  • BB.A in Humanities and / or Economics
  • PGCE teaching qualification or recognised equivalent.
  • Ability to teach Key Stage 3 - 5 Economics with Pearson EDEXCEL OR equivalent.
  • Ability to organise and lead relevant Field studies for students.
  • Other relevant Subject areas may be considered depending on qualification and experience.
  • Fluency in English : C2 or higher or Mother Tongue.
  • The proven ability to contribute to and work effectively within a Subject department and broader staff community.
  • The proven ability to maintain accurate data, records and Curricular Schemes of Learning.
  • The proven ability to energise student learning and experience ensuring high level of student development and improvement.
  • A proven facility with using relevant Information technology and complying with in-house systems of recordkeeping.
  • A proven ability to provide additional contribution to student experience beyond the mainstream curriculum.
  • A 10 Year Personal Background Police Clearance record (to include International child protection certificate or equivalent).
  • 2 written references from Referees.
  • A current Work Permit to work in Switzerland or residency in Switzerland or as a Frontailer.
  • Applications which do not fulfill the Work Permit and Safeguarding requirements will not be processed.
